Sizing Explained
Welcome to sizing explained. Here you'll find a little bit about the thinking behind our sizing. How to figure out your Nohah size and the size charts for each garment.
Why 1,2,3?
Let's get something out in the open for starters... Women's sizing is MESSED UP. I'm sure you're all too aware that you can be an 18 in one shop, a 22 in another and a 26 in another. Sizing across women's fashion, especially plus size fashion is inconsistent, messy and an absolute minefield.
So I wanted to get rid of that.
That's why I developed the 1,2,3 system. Yes we cover (roughly) sizes 18-36, but because of the loose fit, and elasticated waists we can cover that breadth of sizing in just three sizes. And full disclosure? As a new brand starting out, it was more cost effective for me to do it that way too. BUT I hope you can find the size/s that work for you.
How do I figure out my size?
Well I can give you a rough idea with our size charts, that estimate where you'll sit in our sizing. But the beauty of our sizing is that you can choose depending on how you like your fit too.
Let me explain... I (Becky) am a size 22/24 in most brands, I sometimes dip down to a 20, and size up to a 26. In Nohah, I am a 1 and a 2. And that depends if I want something a bit more close fitting, or a bit looser/oversized.
For me personally, I carry a lot of my weight in my hips and thighs. So when it comes to our tops, I'm a solid 1, no need to size up unless I want a really oversized look.
In our slip dress, I prefer a looser fit, so I go for the 2.
In our trousers, it depends on the style. Our wide legs are jersey so they stretch, and are a more 'forgiving' cut so I'm a 1. In the tapered style, it's a none stretch fabric and I prefer the look of the size 2. It gives me a more baggy, relaxed look.
I said this was going to be simple didn't I?
It honestly depends on where your measurements sit on the chart and what your body shape is. But that's the nice thing. You can pick and choose the right size for you based on those things. Not based on a label that dictates your 'size'. So my best advice is check out the sizing chart. Compare the measurements to your favourite/best fitting garments from your wardrobe and make a decision based on that.
Bespoke, small batch style does mean putting a bit of work in and making more considered purchases, and that also applies when choosing your size. I understand you're making an investment in me and my clothes, so you want to spend your money well and that means getting the right size too.
So; if all my rambling still doesn't make sense, please do not hesitate to email me on hello@nohahstudio.com and I can chat you through your sizing options.
